A Sonoma County Workcation
Now that remote work is seemingly here to stay, many of us can get the job done just about anywhere. Inevitably, then, you may find yourself mixing a little adventure into your next batch of office deadlines. Why not pack up your laptop and head to Sonoma County for a work-hard, play-hard getaway?
We’ve listed a few local towns below where you’ll find coworking spaces for daily rentals. We’ve also suggested a few nearby activities that will help take the edge off a hard day’s work, plus hotels with amenities that will optimize your stay.
Santa Rosa

As the local branch of an international coworking franchise, coLAB offers both open-plan areas and shared office spaces. A mix of cozy sofas and modern workstations provide a clean, comfortable atmosphere where you can either focus or connect with comrades. Located in downtown Santa Rosa, accessible to both the freeway and the bustle of downtown, coLAB offers anything and everything you need for a satisfying workcation.
Are you the sort of person who needs to get your blood pumping in order to clear your head? Wake up early and grab coffee at Trail House, where staff can help orient you to the bike trails at Trione-Annadel State Park. After a good sweat mountain biking, clean up and head back to coLAB. If you finish work early enough, you’ll have time to round up a buddy or coworker and tour Russian River Brewing Co. Or, grab dinner and a cocktail at contemporary Mediterranean restaurant Monti’s.
Where to Stay: Hyatt Regency Sonoma Wine County
A Four-Diamond with Tuscan-villa stylings and carefully landscaped gardens, Hyatt Regency Sonoma Wine County is one of the largest hotels in Wine Country. Here, you’ll not only enjoy amenities like luxury bedding, but also an outdoor pool, hot tub, firepit and jogging trails. A central location makes the hotel accessible by 20 minutes to more than 425 wineries in the region. The popular Work from Hyatt program (available globally) tailors to the needs of business travelers.
Petaluma
In the heart of downtown Petaluma, Keller Street CoWork offers affordable access to modern workspaces on either an hourly or daily basis. Swing by or call ahead to confirm availability.
Start the day with a sumptuous brunch at Della Fattoria, plus maybe a little browsing at Copperfield’s Books (for work purposes, of course). Later, after you have spent your mental energy at Keller CoWork, catch some rays while paddling the Petaluma River. You can rent equipment through a local outfitter like Clavey Paddlesport or Floathouse.
If all that exertion made you thirsty, then you’ll want to quench your thirst with a tasting at Keller Estate Winery, with its undulating views of the Petaluma Gap Appellation. Finish with dinner at Pearl, a popular Mediterranean cafe located in the riverside Foundry Wharf community.
Where to Stay: Sheraton Sonoma County
Situated on the banks of the Petaluma River, not only does Sheraton Sonoma County offer a quiet place to work with easy access to downtown, Hwy. 101, Wine Country, the Petaluma Marina and all the boating you can imagine, it also has its own restaurant.
Healdsburg
In a beautifully renovated bank in the heart of downtown, CraftWork is an elegant, thoughtfully planned coworking space offering both private offices and communal spaces. Cozy up in an MCM leather chair next to the fireplace in the elegant lobby, or choose to close yourself away in a private room – the repurposed bank vault, perhaps? CraftWork’s day-pass program is available on weekdays and some weekends from 6 a.m. until midnight.
At CraftWork, you’re temptingly close to renowned wineries, fine restaurants and farmers markets. Make the most of your valuable time: Kick off the workday with a crumpet and coffee at Quail and Condor, where folks line up out the door for freshly baked goods. That should keep you going for a few hours – but afterward, haven’t you earned a break?

Escape on a midday tubing expedition – perhaps with friends or family in tow – with River’s Edge Kayak & Canoe Trips. Staring at the sky while cool water licks your toes is an amazing refresher – for the body, mind and soul. Later, head back to town to wrap up business at CraftWork. Then veg out at acclaimed plant-based restaurant Little Saint.
Where to Stay: The Madrona
When you retreat to this beautifully renovated Victorian hotel on eight lush acres, you’ll hardly remember you’re here to work. With a century and a half of history that’s been lovingly designed, The Madrona is a jewel of Wine Country. The Madrona is a destination unto itself.
