Osmosis Day Spa Sanctuary in Freestone brings Japanese wellness practices and ambiance to the United States. From sipping tea in the sanctuary’s private rooms with a view of its Japanese gardens to taking a healing soak in the Cedar Enzyme Bath, the only place visitors can get this treatment in the Americas. The Cedar Enzyme Bath involves immersing yourself in a warm, fragrant mixture of cedar, rice bran and living enzymes that activate metabolic activity and clean skin. The facility’s menu also includes various packages with massage, facial and meditation. Group bookings for up to 70 can be made.
At California School of Herbal Studies (CSHS) in Forestville, your group can connect over discussion about and creating of herbal medicines, essential oils, and lotions, creams and cleaners. Via year-round workshops, CSHS lets visitors get hands-on in the creation of their own wellness products.
Sonoma County is also home to many shops where attendees can grab wellness products from Northern California creators. Rosemary’s Garden is an herbal apothecary where a variety of essential oils, organic herbs and herbal remedies, teas and tea blends, and care products are offered for those leading a wellness-based lifestyle. Herb Folk is an herbal medicine shop and clinic based in Asian American herbalism, which offers teas, herbs and herbal formulas.
Wellness-based Properties
Sonoma County is home to several properties that places wellness front and center, be it the guest rooms, public spaces and extracurricular activities.
Gaige House in Glen Ellen features 23 Asian-inspired guest rooms that are a thoughtful blend of vintage and modern decor. Of these 23 rooms, Gaige House features eight Zen suites that feature deep, large granite tubs and private Japanese gardens, as well as the ADA accessible Creekside Suite that comes with a private terrace. The property features an array of massage options in its Spa Sanctuary Room.

Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa in Sonoma sits on top of thermal springs 1,100 ft. below the property, infusing its waters with 27 minerals.
Its 40,000-square-foot Fairmont Spa features a rotunda, 36 treatment rooms, as well as indoor and outdoor pools. As the thermal springs below reach the Earth’s surface at 115 degrees, its Watsu Pool is naturally heated to 98 degrees, its spa pool to 92 degrees and its main pool to 85 degrees. Fairmont Sonoma’s Roman-style bathhouse features an exfoliating shower, two mineral water soaking pools, an aromatherapy steam room, halotherapy sauna and showers.
Fairmont Sonoma is equipped with more than 27,000 sq. ft. of indoor and outdoor meeting space. Its venues can accommodate groups large, medium and small, in venues like the 4,500-square-foot Pavilion Room that features beautiful iron chandeliers and ample natural light, and the 680-square-foot Harvest Suite, which features three sets of French doors for access to a patio and plenty of fresh air.
