Day 1: Settle into a State of Bliss
Driving through the redwoods along the Russian River can feel like going back to a simpler time. The rustic charm of the green hills and weathered wood help ease your mind. You have many wonderful options for restful accommodations in Sonoma County, each with its own vibe.
Settle in and enjoy your stay’s amenities, and book yourself a CBD spa treatment or a relaxing massage. There are a growing number of local spas that offer CBD-infused body wraps, soaks, massage oils, and more. A few favorites include:
- Royal Care Lifestyle specializes in therapeutic massage and was the first to offer CBD massage in Santa Rosa. The spa has an in-house line of CBD products called Whole Care, so you can take the wellbeing benefits home with you.
- The Wellness Barn at Farmhouse Inn offers holistic spa services like herbal soaks, massage and skincare treatments. CBD products can be added to any service, and the CBD Gemstone Bath is the perfect way to start your self-care day.
- Sonoma Coast Spa at The Lodge at Bodega Bay takes an artisanal approach to wellness treatments in a soothing, revitalizing setting. For the ultimate relaxation, there are CBD infused options for massage and body treatments.
- boon hotel + spa along the Russian River in Guerneville is an understated but elegant adult-focused boutique hotel and spa that offers CBD-infused treatments, and other “boons” to the experience.
After pampering yourself with a soothing spa treatment, a stroll through adorable downtown Guerneville or a refreshing blast of fresh salty air at Jenner Headlands Preserve should help you work up a bit of an appetite. Be sure to make a reservation for dinner at River’s End Restaurant a bit before sunset, so you can enjoy the whole spectacle with a glass of Russian River wine and a spectacular meal. The view here of the mouth of the Russian River at Jenner never disappoints, and neither does the menu.
Day 2: Nature’s Medicine and Abundance
After a restful sleep (see our list of cannabis-friendly lodging), if you’re the active early-bird type, a paddle on the Russian River is guaranteed to clear your mind. First thing in the morning is the perfect time to hit the water and the best time of day for spotting wildlife.
Renting a kayak or booking a guided tour at WaterTreks EcoTours is a great way to enjoy some movement meditation while enjoying local wildlife in the beautiful estuary that they thrive in. Check out the company’s Sunday Guided Day Tours as well as Full Moon and Bioluminescent Night Tours; or if you’re experienced, you can rent kayaks and equipment from WaterTreks and head out on your own.
If paddling isn’t your thing, enjoy some coffee on the patio and find some delicious breakfast bites at Cafe Aquatica in Jenner, or if you’re in the mood for a hearty farm-to-table brunch, try one of these recommendations.
For more restorative nature time and fresh air, Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve is the perfect place for some relaxing forest bathing and a leisurely walk in the shade of ancient giants. For dinner, there are wonderful options in Sebastopol, known for its farm-to-table foodie scene, such as Fern Bar and Blue Ridge Kitchen in The Barlow. While you’re there, stop by Soft Medicine for a calming herbal tea or healing elixir incorporating herbs, superfoods, and traditional plant medicines spanning traditions from Ayurveda to Native Herbalism. The shop also offers yoga and movement classes, a cozy lounge, and organic bites, and often hosts community events.
Make sure to weave in (at least) one of Sonoma County’s cannabis experiences while you’re here, like an elevated yoga class with Madeline Berry, an elegant CBD-infused High Tea with Happy Travelers, or a one-of-a-kind cannabis-driven event put on by Cannescape.
Day 3: You Deserve Self Care
Before winding down your Sonoma County journey, be sure to book a relaxing and rejuvenating spa day at Osmosis Day Spa Sanctuary in Freestone. Known for its unique cedar enzyme baths, the spa also offers massage, facials, tea service, and a meditative Zen garden. Osmosis has ways to upgrade your spa treatments by incorporating CBD-infused tinctures, oils, or lotions that enhance relaxation and offer pain-relief and anti-inflammatory qualities without the intoxicating effects of THC.
Grab some coffee and a bite at the adorable Howard Station Cafe in Occidental and take in the historic town that hosts a great weekly farmer’s market. Driving the windy backroads among tiny Sonoma County towns is a wonderful way to slow down after your spa day. A drive up to the Grove of Old Trees for a short but beautiful nature walk to stretch your legs before you head home will let you get one last redwood encounter in.
We hope you’ll take the restorative effects of the ocean breeze, redwood trees, well-appointed spas, laid-back atmosphere and of course, fine locally grown cannabis with you on your journey home and return to visit Sonoma County the next time you need a blissful nature escape or an indulgent romantic getaway.
