Lunar New Year Community Celebration

The Sonoma Community Center will host our second annual Lunar New Year cultural event to celebrate and highlight the upcoming Year of the Snake!

Also known around the world as Chinese New Year or the Spring Festival, this year's celebration will begin on Jan. 29, 2025. The Center's festivities will offer a variety of creative programming throughout February. Instructors will offer a number of artistic workshops, present legacy educational programming, and hold an exclusive Sonoma public performance from the Redwood Empire Chinese Association (RECA) on Saturday, Feb. 15.

Free to all, the Lunar New Year Community Day will begin with a traditional Chinese calligraphy demonstration by Sonoma Valley Council Member, Jack Ding. The art activities will be followed by engaging performances by RECA's musical performers. Light refreshments will be provided to the public.

This event will be held rain or shine. Weather permitting, this event will be held outside on our back patio. Otherwise, the event will be held indoors.

12 p.m. - 1 p.m.: Chinese calligraphy. 
1 p.m. - 3 p.m.: Redwood Empire Chinese Association performance.
