Second Saturday Gallery Talk

Every second Saturday of the month enjoy free admission all day long at the Museum of Sonoma County! Galleries are open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will be free and open to all! This month, join us to celebrate our newest exhibition, Unruly: North Bay Artists from the San Francisco Art Institute, with some family-friendly art activities and special artist talks in the galleries.

From 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., participate in the creation of a community security blanket. In Community Security Blanket, the actions of knitting and sewing serve as both metaphor and motivator for connecting. Anyone who wishes may participate in the making of this blanket, which is composed of small, individually knitted squares. Started in 2024 at the Museum of Northern California Art in Chico, CA, this ever-expanding artwork was initially part of a community-building multimedia installation exhibited within In Flux: Recalibrating the Unknown, SFAA’s first in-person exhibition. Community Security Blanket now travels solo to SFAA exhibitions to promote our belief in collaboration – coming together for mutual benefit – as a hopeful and cogent antidote to complex challenges.

At 3 p.m., enjoy a gallery talk featuring curator Jude Mooney and select artists from the exhibition.
