Nestled among the redwoods, rolling green pastures filled with sheep, goats, cows, deer, and llamas, is the beautiful former logging village of Occidental, California in the county of Sonoma. Sonoma Fine Wine proudly makes its home in downtown Occidental, in a historic landmark dating originally from 1897. Between 1897 and 1924, the building burned down twice and was destroyed by the famous 1906 earthquake; it has been surprisingly stable since 1924, with only three businesses between 1933’s Vera’s Sweet Shop and the present. In addition to Sonoma Fine Wine, the building’s only other real notoriety comes from the owner of the property in 1908, 4’9″ Jakie Fehr, who was the inspiration for the comic-strip character ‘Jeff’ of Mutt and Jeff.
